Spring
by Sarah Powell

The white birch bends,
its trailing green buds
succumb to the airy winds
of a glistening dawn.

Smooth young dandelion,
poke shoots,
spiky nettle tops
cluster along the water’s edge
above a blanket of
yellow celandine stars

The stream cobbles shiver
In the cool snow melt,
trickling from the hillsides
into our gently warming valley.
