Watching
by Jarmara Black

I’m sitting watching my fairy child As She dances in the autumn light
her Auburn hair on fire, her eyes wide and bright full of innocent delight
The garden comes alive with the sweet sounds of her laughter her merriment and joy
Her arms she stretches up towards the sky as if to try too fly up and catch the golden leaves
That fall as autumns treasure, jewelled and bright as gold but more precious to behold
Her light and silvery laugh fills the air and her presence is felt everywhere.
And as I sit and watch her so I wish a wish I know will not come true
I wish for her to always be this innocent light hearted child and for her never to grow up
Or grow old.
