A perennial plant growing upto 2ft tall and quite tolerant of poor, light soil. The stems and leaves are covered with a down giving the plant a greyish appearance, with small white flowers growing in whorls.

Horehound has been one of the most popular country remedy for colds and coughs for centuries. Herbalist Gerard stated that "Syrup made from the greene fresh leaves of horehound and sugar is a most singular remedie against the cough and wheezing of the lungs."
White Horehound can be drunk as a herbal infusion to help with lung weakness, bronchitis, and irritating coughs.
